NEK Complex
All previous isolations (14-day and 105-day), as well as the current 520-day one, are (or have been) taking place in the Ground Experimental Complex (Nazemnyi experimentalnyi komplex – NEK) of the National Scientific Centre of the Russian Federation - The Institute of Medical and Biological Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
The Scientific Centre features a hermetically sealable simulator of a spaceship of an overall volume of 550 m³, where the experiment participants will spend 520 days in isolation on a simulated flight to Mars. |
